AstaReal AB, a global leader in production of natural astaxanthin, just published its sustainability report for 2023. During the year, the company reached full production capacity with its current technology and eliminated Scope 1 emissions entirely thanks to investments in new cooling systems that replaced older, less sustainable technologies.
Additionally, AstaReal implemented measures to reduce its use of reverse osmosis (RO) water by approximately 200 m³ per month, as part of its long-term commitment to sustainable water management.
“The major improvements we saw in 2023 were due to an active effort where we replaced equipment and refrigerants with more modern and environmentally friendly alternatives. ”, says Linn Johansson, Quality Assurance & Sustainability Manager at AstaReal.
